Aren't they cute?

Written by Shannon Leigh

Meet my Gramma and Grampa Gardner (my maternal grandparents).

Aren't they adorable?

They are some of the constants in my life. Aren't I lucky?

I grew up just a few miles away and spent many days with them. Not to mention every Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter... you name it.
They always had a pot of coffee on. That is where I learned that coffee tasted good with milk and sugar.

They also ALWAYS had marshmallows. I think I ate marshmallows every time I visited, which was a lot.

A few times when my mom worked, I stayed with them when I was sick. I remember my Gramma made me the best toast ever. I didn't know that toast could be so yummy.

My Gramma has soft brown eyes. My Grampa is super ornery and has a great laugh.

And now Ruby gets to know them. Isn't she lucky too?

They are wonderful and I love them.
That is all.

29 Reasons why I love my husband

Written by Shannon Leigh

9. The week after Ruby was born, Matt had to go back to work. I was feeling very insecure about caring for this living/breathing real life human being and I was afraid I'd be terrible at being a stay-at-home mom. He wrote me the most beautiful note and left it on the bedside table. It encouraged me in ways he will probably never know. It made me cry and gave me the strength to get through the day.

10. He intentionally leaves the toilet paper roll off of the holder just to see how long it will take for me to put it back on. I never do so he ends up putting it on himself.

11. He has beautiful teeth and a PERFECT smile. In fact, a few months ago we went to the dentist and we had the same hygienist. He asked me if the hygienist told me I had a beautiful smile. I said "no, why?" Apparently she told him how great his smile was... and went on to say how great his teeth were. I might be jealous if I didn't agree.

12. When I text him and ask him if he loves me... he writes back "completely and unconditionally."

13. He never raises his voice at me. I don't know how it's possible but it's true. I could learn a thing or two from him.

14. He ADORES Ruby and can't wait to see her when he gets home from work. If she is asleep he will sneak into her room just to stare at her. I find her asleep on his chest all the time. A lot of times they are both asleep.

Ruby, 6 Months

6 Month stats
Weight 15.4 (35th percentile)
Height 27 3/4 in (95th percentile)

Right now...
Ruby is LONG & SKINNY.
She is rolling over but gets stuck when trying to roll from her back to her belly.
I had to take down her mobile over her crib because all she wants to do is giggle at it when it's nap time.
She is saying "BA BA" and "GA GA" - not directed at anything in particular. I am really working with her to say "MA MA." She only says it when she's mad.
She knows the sign for milk and squeals and opens her mouth when we sign it to her. We're FAIRLY certain she can sign it too. She also knows the sign for bunny, lion, monkey, and frog.
She loves to look in the mirror. She finds herself hilarious.
She eats pretty much anything at this point, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, prunes, peaches, apples, pears... I am sure I am leaving something out.
We fall more and more in love with her everyday.

29 Reasons why I love my husband

Written by Shannon Leigh

2. He is probably the most consistent thing in my life. He's so unchanging and steady. I know I can count on him for the things that I am lacking, especially spiritually.

3. While engaged, he sent me flowers and wrote this on my card.
"For the only woman I will ever love. Praise God that he chose you as my Eve."

4. He gave me ruby earrings and a ruby necklace in the hospital after Ruby was born. I LOVED his thoughtfulness and they are beautiful. I think I'll wear them on our anniversary.

5. The vows he wrote for me on our wedding day. They blew me away.

6. The fact that he won't give me the password to the netflix cue, but makes sure we get a chick-flick every other movie.

7. He lets me sleep-in in the morning.

8. He's a GREAT business partner. Even though I get frustrated sometimes, he is always the voice of reason.
