Week 16

This past week, Peanut was an avocado!

According to Babycenter.com 

"the baby is 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces.  His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head.  His ears are close to their final position, too."

YEY, peanut is looking more and more human and less alien like.  

I have my "16 week" appointment tomorrow even though I'll be 17 weeks.  This one isn't anything major, just a check up to make sure things are going ok.  We opted out of all of the tests that could be run so I'm thinking this appointment will be pretty short.

I don't get another sono until 20 weeks.  They will be able to tell the sex by then as well as other developmental milestones.  I am pretty pumped about that one and yes, I'm still leaning towards boy.

Still not in maternity clothes.  I tried on a few pairs of pants out of my hand-me-down stash and they fell down as soon as I pulled them up so I guess I'm just going to have to use the bellaband and rubberband trick until maternity pants fit.  God knows that the top button on most of my pants won't come close to buttoning.

Week 15

Peanut and I have made it to the 15 week mark and we feel great.  He is now the size of a large red apple and I'm pretty sure I am feeling him move every once in awhile.  Pretty crazy how big he is getting. 

I'm still not in maternity clothes but Matt told me today that I definitely look like I have a beer belly.  SWEET.  Just what I want to hear.  Oh the things we do as mothers. (Man that still sounds so strange).

 At this point I feel pretty much OVER the nausea part of the pregnancy.  Thank the good Lord.  I am still sleeping on my stomach which I am trying to extend as long as I can and I am having very strange dreams which has lead, on occasion, to me waking up very confused.  

I am at the 4 month mark in a couple of days and the reality that a little one will be here in a few short months is still not setting in.  My parents brought our crib that my mom found at an antique store and we put it together on Saturday.  It still needs to be painted, but the color won't be determined until we know the sex and the fabric for the bedding.  Every time I walk by it I say a little prayer for my little Peanut.  For some reason a physical reminder makes all the difference.  

 It was very eventful weekend and I am very sad to see it end.  I enjoyed spending time with my Matty and we have most of our anniversary trip planned (good thing since it' only 2 weeks away).  At least this week will be short.

Week 14

This week, Peanut is a lemon!!  

All kinds of cool things are happening in there now.  According to babycenter.com Peanut can now "squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb!"

I'm still not in maternity clothes, but looser shirts are a bit more comfortable.

I'm starting to feel like I have a beer gut.

Thankfully, I'v been able to borrow a ton of maternity clothes from friends and family.  

I've got lots of options, which is nice as my waistline grows...

So far, all of the promises of the "second trimester wonderfulness" have proven true.

I feel great and I have a lot more energy.

Still a little nauseous here and there but I really can't complain.

Why Hello Second Trimester

Well I'm officially into my 14th week of pregnancy.  It feels GREAT to be in my second trimester!! I am starting to have more energy (except for a nasty cold) and most of the nausea is gone.  I haven't switched to maternity clothes but I am starting to feel a little pudgy around the middle.  I'm thinking I might "pop out" in the next few weeks... we will see.

Last week (week 13) peanut was the size of a peach!  it's CRAZy how fast he is growing (I say 'he' because I'm pretty confident it's a boy).  Oh how I love watching this little guy grow.
